How Daily AI Engineering Digest uses data
Effective date: November 4, 2026
Daily AI Engineering Digest is a personal automation owned by Amesh. It researches recent public, primary-source AI engineering articles, creates a verified PDF briefing, and sends it from ameshalex@gmail.com to finix.benny@gmail.com.
Google data and Gmail permissions
The app requests two Gmail permissions:
- Send mail: to deliver the generated PDF briefing to the single intended recipient above.
- Read-only mail: to check Gmail Sent for a matching subject, recipient, and PDF before sending, and to read back the sent message to verify that the attachment is a genuine
application/pdf.
The app does not use Gmail read access to browse the inbox, build a profile, or sell or advertise against email content. It does not share Google user data with third parties except as needed to operate the GitHub Actions workflow and Gmail API delivery described here.
What is stored and for how long
- OAuth client credentials and the Gmail refresh token are kept outside this repository in the owner’s local, owner-only credentials file during setup. For workflow operation, the values are stored as encrypted GitHub Actions secrets; they are not printed or committed to the repository.
- The workflow generates a PDF, rendered page PNGs, and a selection manifest. GitHub Actions retains those run artifacts for 21 days, after which they expire under the workflow’s configured retention.
- The repository’s
state/sent_items.jsonrecords source URLs from successfully emailed digests to prevent repeats. It contains URLs and timestamps/metadata for deduplication, not Gmail message bodies or OAuth tokens, and remains in repository history until the repository owner removes or rewrites it.
Gmail and GitHub may retain their own records under their respective policies. This application does not control those service-level retention periods.
